Jan ‘23: Music, Business Development, and More!

Hey friends!

Thanks for staying tuned about Verdancy Vale’s development! As promised, here’s my continued attempt to keep you all in the loop as progress continues to chug forward!

More Interviews!

Since my last update, another interview of mine, conducted by the wonderful Eric Askew, has been published! Eric and I spoke last Spring about composing the music for Verdancy Vale, and this article is another in his series about Game Music Development!

You can find this article here: Sandbox Mode: The Creative Side of Video Game Soundtracks!

And if you’d like to read through the first article in this series, it’s here: Level Up: The Evolution of Video Game Music!

It has been such an amazing, mind-blowing treat to be featured amongst the likes of Inon Zur and Darren Korb, and I can’t thank Eric enough for reaching out!

Soundtrack News! [aka timing is funny]

As you’re all probably tired of hearing by now, when I first began Verdancy Vale’s development, my goal was to complete the entire game on my own. Well, times change, and this past summer, I realized that I would never be able to create this dream to my own high standards on my lonesome. So, I brought on an artist, and now a few more are on the horizon of joining the team.

Art aside, something very exciting happened recently! An amazing orchestral composer reached out to me (yes, the application form on the front page really does work) this past week, and after a lengthy meeting, we hit it off, and I invited him to join the team!

So, this is me introducing Verdancy Vale’s composer: Marco Salamida! He’s a fantastic Italian composer who’s worked with some very prestigious names, and I’m so very excited to work with him in creating the soundscape of this game and world!

If you’d like to hear some of his work, you can check out his website: here!

Stay tuned for more soundtrack updates!

Boring Business Stuff

The past few weeks have had a slew of business opportunities spring up, and while I’m not at a point to reveal anything now, I do want to say that really cool things are on the horizon!

Art for Inspiration

It wouldn’t be a Verdancy Vale update without sharing a cool concept or art piece, so here you go! This piece was one of the earliest concepts done by my head artist, Hubert, and it shows a broken ship stuck in one of the magical canopy trees of the Chaos Weald (the magical forest of Verdancy Vale). And pictured is a placeholder character, so that you can get an idea of what characters will look like in the game!

Thank You!

Finally, I want to thank you all, yet again, for your support! This year holds many unknowns still, yet as the team expands and we race towards seeking funding of some sort, I can’t help but be excited!

And so, I’ll leave you with the ancient wizard saying: roll up your sleeves, it’s time for some magic.
